Why Creatives Flock to Brixton, the Brooklyn of London

Zoom in. It’s a Sunday morning in vibrant Brixton. The day begins with Harpreet’s cherished ritual: a visit to Four Boroughs Coffee for her favorite oat mocha, then soaking in the streaming sunshine as she strolls cobblestone streets. Feeling re-energized, she heads to Brixton Village to gather fresh produce for the week ahead – fish, meat, and a vast array of colorful vegetables. Lastly, she swings by Solo Craft Fair to pick up a present for her friend’s birthday gathering she’s hosting later that night at the Node’s lounge.

Back at Node, she transforms her finds into a delightful meal, inviting friends to share in the communal lounge area. As they enjoy the feast and birthday celebration, laughter fills the air, creating memories that will last long after the plates are cleared. Harpreet can’t help but find joy in the little moments – from sipping coffee in the sun, to walking the Brixton streets lined with inspiration, to sharing a hearty meal with friends. It all confirms that she is living her best Brixton life.

Let’s zoom out. Brixton is located in the Borough of Lambeth, which happens to be the twin city of Brooklyn, New York. Brixton has been the home to many creatives and artists including David Bowie, Adele, Sharon Osbourne, Sinead O’Connor, Charlie Chaplain, Vincent Van Gogh, Frank Dillane and the actor Toheeb Jimoh, from Ted Lasso. Somehow this pocket of South London continues to draw people from all over the world and is one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in the city. With live music venues like the famous O2 Academy Brixton, the top rated Ritzy Cinema Cafe for movie-goers, and Pop Brixton for all your cultural and foodie needs, it’s no wonder why people are continuing to choose to relocate to Brixton and make it home.

It is also no coincidence that Node had its first location in Brooklyn, New York. So when we decided to create our first location in London, it was without a doubt that Brixton was the spot. Our fully-furnished flats are home to talented creatives, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, professionals committed to all sorts of endeavors, and community-spirited individuals. Our monthly events create a sense of ease and fun to connect with neighbours of all kinds. The same Harpreet that set the scene for us earlier is also Node’s Community Curator. She hosts a variety of events ranging from Indian foodie nights, Sip & Paint, and jewelry making classes. We care about authentic connection, whether that be among small businesses owners or our very own ‘Nodies’.
So zooming back in. Node’s Design Studio partnered with global firm DesignAgency to dream up the coziest, locally-inspired space with a dash of modernity. We imagined a destination where digital nomads, expats and London natives could join together to create a community in a neighbourhood that mirrored their lively lifestyle. Node’s 1940s newly renovated boutique building is five stories, including newly added penthouses with views all the way to central London. The layout is truly an fresh expression of build to rent (BTR) and coliving, where you have your own self contained flat that is larger than a typical coliving studio, while our community lounge/coworking area and garden provide space to connect with new friends as well as an alternative place to chill beyond your apartment. And all the hassles are taken away – fully furnished with wifi and utilities bundled in one bill. This makes it an ideal place for those wanting to relocate to Brixton, be it from another part of London or a far corner of the world.

Not to mention (but to mention) our building is a walker’s paradise with a walk score of 94! Venture out on the cobblestone streets with friends and you are a few steps away from some of the best coffee and microbreweries London has to offer, such as Craft Metropolis, Friendship Adventure and the famed Brixton Brewery. Residents enjoy amazing transport links, with the Brixton Underground Station on the 24 hour Victoria Line and Loughborough Junction Overground which gets you into central London in 10 minutes.

We are thrilled to be immersed in one of London’s best cultural hubs! We have much respect for its roots and are always finding creative ways to partner with local businesses and help our new residents integrate as soon as possible.. Our hope has always been to come alongside the Brixton community and be home to new residents that are not only looking for fully-furnished accommodation but want to live their best Brixton lives! Reach out to our very own Harpreet and she can get you plugged in before you know it!
